Hall Green and Northfield Locality Family Hubs opening soon.

More support for families in Birmingham is on hand in the form of Family Hubs, including ‘Best Start for Life’ (extra support for families with 0-2 year olds). Family Hubs is bringing organisations and professionals together in one place, to offer families, advice, guidance and support on a wide range of family and parenting issues.

Following the opening of the Hodge Hill and Ladywood Family Hubs, the partnership is pleased to announce that the Hall Green Locality Family Hub will open at St Paul’s Children’s Centre, Balsall Heath on 25th March. Springfield Children’s Centre, Moseley, B13 9NY will become the satellite hub.

The Northfield locality Family Hub will follow shortly afterwards on 29th April, opening at Northfield Children’s Centre, Frankley, B45 0EU, currently run by Barnardo’s. Both will hold open days for families following the opening.

Family Hub support is being rolled out in centres across Birmingham with six more hubs to follow. Information, advice and guidance is also available online on the Family Hubs website. Families can access the right help locally at the right time in a whole family approach, particularly focusing on families with children and young people aged 0-19 (25 with SEND).

Family Hubs is a partnership in Birmingham led by the City Council which will be given £9.215m of government funding over 3 years to develop ‘Best Start for Life’ and ‘Family Hubs’ provision, offering families accessible help.

Services available in a Family Hub are:

• Activities for children aged 0-5
• Birth Registration
• Debt and Welfare Advice
• Domestic Abuse
• Early Language and Home Learning Environment
• Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) and financial support (Tax-Free Childcare, Universal Credit childcare)
• Health visiting 0-5 (inclusive of the Start for Life period)
• Housing
• Infant Feeding Programme
• Intensive targeted family support services, including those funded by the Supporting Families programme
• Local authority 0-19 public health services, based on local needs assessments
• Mental health services (beyond Start for Life parent-infant mental health)
• Midwifery/Maternity
• Nutrition and Weight Management
• Oral Health Improvement
• Parent-Infant Relationships and Perinatal Mental Health Support
• Parenting Support
• Reducing Parental Conflict
• SEND support and services
• Stop Smoking Support
